Plans to re-open Fort Lauderdale amenities and businesses will be reviewed at the City Commission Workshop at 1pm today. We applaud Mayor Dean Trantalis and our city leaders for their diligence, leadership and collaborative efforts with state, cross-county leaders, our health systems, community and business leaders in addressing the community’s needs and to continue to put public safety first as we move forward. I recently created a working group of business executives, medical professionals and community leaders to discuss how to reopen Fort Lauderdale amenities and businesses. They have just submitted their recommendations.

They offered some great ideas on how to phase in the reopening parks, beaches, pools, restaurants, gyms and other places. Their report provides some sound measures for a phased approach that continues to protect the health and safety of our residents against the COVID-19 virus.

I look forward to discussing the report tomorrow with the City Commission and addressing when we can begin to put it into effect.
