Please see the message below regarding the ban on plastic straws.

To protect the health of our beaches, oceans, and marine wildlife, our community has started reducing its use of single use plastic materials, including straws. On January 22, 2019, the City of Fort Lauderdale passed an ordinance banning the sale and distribution of single use plastic straws. For the first six months, the City will provide education and outreach on the ordinance; starting in July 2019, businesses may provide plastic straws only upon request; and. as of January 2020, businesses may not provide any plastic straws. Help our City with its More Flavor, Less Plastic campaign, by eliminating plastic straws and reducing usage of other single use plastics. For more information, please contact the City of Fort Lauderdale Public Works Department Sustainability Division at sustainability@fortlauderdale.gov or (954)828-6190.
